Creating a Bi-Axial Estate in Cantonment

This project explores different layouts and building morphologies within a chosen site, factoring in liveability and the quality of public spaces.

The chosen site was located in Outram / Tanjong Pagar. In selecting the site, a 500m radius was placed on Cantonment Road, covering the main residential estates of the area: such as the Pinnacle @ Duxton, Cantonment Towers and Everton Park, along with other private residential properties.

Precedent studies were done to better understand the site context. This mainly includes a walkability study, as well as the calculation of the View and Ventilation Index (VVI) of current residential estates. Case studies were also conducted.

With consideration of the future developments within the vicinity, the redesigned, bi-axial estate aims to connect the Greater Southern Waterfront. Design iterations and nodal placement of developmental models were based on the area chosen.
